Are there any safe home methods of removing the tear stains from my maltese's face?

My puppy gets tear stains around his eyes. If I don't wash his face every day they turn orange and form black stuff that smells. I dont' know what to do.
Answers:
Orange tear stains are often a red yeast (Ptyrosporin) growing in damp areas under your dog's eyes. Feeding a dry kibble that is natural with no additives, preservatives or food color in it seems to maintain stain free faces. Many commercial dog foods contain beep pulp which can cause red staining of the face and beard. Allergies can also cause excessive eye watering.

Prevention may be as simple as adding calcium carbonate - a Tums tablet - to your pup's diet. Tums is an antacid formulated as 500 mg Calcium Carbonate. Giving your pup 1/2 of the Fruit flavored variety twice a day will help change the pH of the tears. This will change the tears' acidity and can help make it hostile for the continued growth of yeast and bacteria.

Another method (don't do both!) is a teaspoon of white cider vinegar added to your dogs drinking water to control new tear stains. Because this flavors the water it may take a while for your dog to drink this water so start out with less vinegar and gradually increase the amount in the water. The vinegar works like the TUMS does in that it changes the pH of the drinking water.

Good luck - hopefully you'll be able to stop the problem and not need to remove the stains any more. :)
let them have some coconut drink, i know someone who does that to his dogs, and he doesn't have any problem.
My mother had a Maltese and she always used baby shampoo on him. It cleaned him up nicely, smells good and wont burn his eyes. Also, constant eye watering is not normal. If it seems frequent or if his eyes look red and/or irritated, take him to see the vet. He may have an infection.
u need to buy this stuff at the pet store for eye cleaning. it works and yeah those eyes can get pretty nasty clena em once every 2-3 days with that stuff and ur good to go :)
My grandmother has a Bichon Frise who has this problem. I know she washes the area regularly with a toothbrush, but I am not sure what type of shampoo she uses. Check with your vet.
You need to restore your dog's PH balance. Try adding a little apple cider vinegar to it's water (how much you use depends on the size of your dog). Soon the acid from the ACV will balance the pooches PH and the stains will go away.

Look up Apple Cider Vinegar online, it works for a number of doggie issues and it's natural.

Are there any pitbull puppies for free adoption in Charlotte N.C?

Im looking for a new pitbull puppy to adopt.
Answers:
I was at the charlotte humane society about 3 weeks ago and they had a large litter of pitts, very cute!! about 3 months old at the time. They are not free, but I think the cost of adoption covers shots and fixing the dogs. Make sure you are able and ready to care for the dog, the humane society just wont let you have one for walking through the door.
don't know, don't live there!!
Pitt Bulls should be eradicated. These vicious animals attack and injure more than 800 people a year in the United States. That's more than all other dog breeds combined. They were bred to be attack animals, why would you want one as a pet? Someday it might decide to eat your baby's face. It happens all the time.
Pitbulls are seriously over-bred. If you get one that does not come from a reputable breeder, you are likely to get the kind of dog that makes people want to ban pitbulls altogether.

If you want a genuine, loyal pet and like the breed, go to a reputable breeder and pay what it costs. Or, go to pitbull rescue (do a Google or Yahoo search) and find the nearest rescue center, where admirers of the breed find good homes for dogs that have to be adopted out. (These are rarely puppies, unfortunately.)

But if you are looking for a cheap dog to be agressive and maybe to get into illegal activities, I have no help for you.
I have a litter you can have, but the mother is a hussy, and the father is in jail on a double murder rap

Are there any people selling a Pembroke Puppy (considerately Cheap)?

Answers:
"Cheap" dogs come with large price tags in the form of medical bills and vet expenses. They are typically poorly bred from low quality parents by a backyard breeder who probably didn't care enough to give the dam good prenatal care with food and re-vaccinating; provide her with extra nutrition during nursing; have the puppies checked after birth by a vet for health defects (such as heart murmmurs), worm and vaccinate the puppies on shedule - and forget screening the parents for hereditary health problems such as hips (nearly 20% in corgis), cardiac, thyroid, and eyes. (We are not talking the local vet for these tests.) A dog can look okay but still have the physical health condition - it just hasn't shown up yet. Such a backyard breeder did not breed for health, soundness and good temperment.

Getting a "cheap" puppy in a breed is like getting a 'cheap' car - the repair and maintence bills are murder.

You have two choices if you want a healthy dog:

(1) Adopt an adult from breed rescue

http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/rescue.html.

Do give serious thought to adopting from an adult from a breed rescue. The clubs' breed rescues go to a great deal of trouble to determine the dog's temperament, personality, likes and dislikes (particularly kids and cats and other dogs in the household), health, and level of training. They make a huge effort to match the right dog to the right home - and if they don't have one they think will be suitable for your home, they won't place it. Great way to avoid the puppy training, newspapers, chewing. They have dogs that are purebred and part-bred (1/2 or so of their breed.) Dogs that come through rescue are so thrilled to have a forever loving home having once been abandoned to a shelter or rescue that they are typically extra devoted and loving. Dogs lose their homes for reason that are not their fault: death, divorce, a move and they couldn鈥檛 keep them, financial problems鈥?

(2) FInd a reliable responsible breeder and see if they will work out a payment plan for a well-bred pet puppy with health guarantees

For more about corgis, go here:

http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/
Quality pembrokes usually range anywhere from $450-$1250 for good reason. Quality dogs are bred by good breeders that check their breeding stock for health problems, temprament problems and behavioral problems. They breed healthy, good tempered dogs and it costs money to do that.

Rather than just looking for a cheap corgi why not look for a quality dog that will live with you for life. Paying a decent price on a well-bred dog can save you on medical bills down the line.
If you can't afford a good breeders prices I say find a Corgi rescue and see if you can adopt. You don't want a "cheap" one from a breeder as it will likely not be all that healthy. In the end, the potential vet bills can bring that price up to where a good breeders prices are anyway.
