border collie pups ears?

my 5 month old border collie pups ears are at the moment not both in the same position i.e. one up one down. I've been told that the reason could be because he is teething and as his new teeth grow the problem will correct itself. anyone else heard of this before? we intend showing our dog so we hope that his ears are o.k.
Answers:
If you want them to stand up trim the fur on the top third of the droopy ear to make it light then it will stand up

If you want it to drop down put a heavy blob of Vaseline in the one that's sticking up.

teething is rubbish.
this is perfectly natrul, the ears will straighten themselves out as the puppy grows.
Yep I've had 2 border collies and they grow out of it. When they are older you will see that they will have full control and if they hear something on the left they might only lift the left ear.

They are a great dog but need loads of exercise and I mean loads.
he's only a pup, don't worry,if his ears don't sit right, take him back to the breeder.
yes, that is known, I bet he looks adorable
Our border collie pup had the same condition but it corrected itself when she was about 11 months old,so yours will probably do the same but you can also ask your vet if you want more reassurance.
Some border collies ears stand up, some don't and some have one of each. As far as the teething thing goes, that's a load of crap. The cartilage in the floppy ear is weaker than the other causing it to flop down. It will not change. There is nothing wrong with your dog.
I've never heard of anything like that. When his ears are in that freaking position put them in the same position. Mabye it will work.
I have a Border Collie , he is five now, and my best friend. When he was a pup until about a year old he used to look lop-sided because one ear was up the other down. Don't worry about it they grow out of it. Sam , my dog has a whole range of ear positions, it's part of his character.
some will straighten up, but he may have odd ears!!
tape them up with medical tape. be sue not to tape them too tight. this will help them train to stay up. it is best to do when the are young. i learned this from a breeder. he breed collies.
i once had a beautiful collie, and to get the ears to turn down (only the tips) we were told to grease his ears with a little butter, or vasaline, this worked a treat, but has nothing to do with teething. who ever told you that is wrong and dont know their dogs !
I have two Border Collie pups who are seven months old, and one that is three.the pups ears are 'all over the place' but it adds to their character. His ears are fine - they will sort themselves out as he grows.I think the teething thing is a load of rubbish - its totally normal and natural for collie puppies ears to be 'up and down'. Enjoy your puppy - He will be a dog soon enough.
Our collie's ears did this, they've equalled out now (both down), well before she was 8 months to 1yr. She's 17 months old now.
he'll grow out of that
He may very well NOT grow out of it, as has been suggested. If that were the case all the BC ears in the world would be tipped.

And dogs ears will do weird things when they are puppies, if you want to be sure they will be tipped, glue or gum them.
