Breeding & Parvo?

Our Male Red nosed pitt puppy contracted Parvo about 2 mos. ago %26 almost died from it. He's nice %26 healthy now! : )We wanted to breed him when he was old enough. Is that impossible now?
Answers:
No, it is not impossible.
Your dog had the virus and now is cured, any puppy is prone to parvo regardless if the mom or dad once had it. Make sure the pups are started on their shots when they need to be started on them and they will be fine. The vaccinations are important. I have had dogs that had parvo and they once had healthy puppies before getting them fixed.
You can breed from him but I wouldn't have any more pups on premises until everything (and I mean everything) has been bleached!
It's okay to breed your dog, but definitely check with your vet about how to sterilize your yard to prevent it from happening later down the line to another puppy.

I had a puppy who contracted the parvo and the reason was cuz she ate another dogs droppings left in our yard that was contaminated with it. Even tho she was fully up to vaccinations, the vet said that they can still contract parvo under certain circumstances and that in puppies, the vaccine helps, but not 100% effective. So be sure to take measures to sterilize your yard to prevent it in the future.
I hope you will do a lot more research on possible health problems that can occur to puppies before you decide you "need" to breed your dog..WHY do you feel the need to breed ?arent there enough unwanted puppies in rescues and shelters now ?is your dog registered, clear for all genetic health problems that he can pass on,does he fit the breed standard,if you cant answer yes then please neuter him and let him live his life as a healthy, loving pet !!
