My dog was classified as a dangerous dog because she is a pitt bull.
Answers:
Move to WA state, the home of the Pit Bull defense. All the BSL is just the bloody insurance companies trying to make an extra buck anyway. they're trying to put the Golden Retriever on the "dangerous dog" list!
Only one who could answer that is an insurance rep. If you have homeowners, ask them if it is covered under that and what you can raise the coverage to. I have not heard of it specifically for a dog, but it couldn't hurt to ask.
IF you can get it, I bet it would be expensive. I have never heard of a company that writes liability coverage on pets.
No insurance company in their right mind would give you coverage if your dog is legally classified as dangerous. Where do you live that they do that?
I doubt any insurance company will write this type of policy. It may fall under your homeowners insurance, but watch out if you make a claim on it for a attack by your dog(especially one already classified as dangerous,) then they may decline the claim and even cancel your insurance. They may decide that you are uninsurable due to your choice of pet. I know you may not want to do it, but for your financial security it may be best to pick a different type of dog to keep as a pet.
If you get your dog temperment tested or earn the CGC (canine good citizen) title from the AKC most insurers will insure restricted breeds. The CGC proves your dog is trained and well behaved around all sorts of people.
The odds are 99.9999% against it.
Many insurers are refusing to write homeowners or renters insuranace if you have certain breeds.
It could be crucial whether the clasification was by the result of statue so that it is a breed that per se is classified as dangerous or whether it was by court ruling specific to your dog.
Just keep a close eye on that dog! They are very sweet dogs to people! Just keep it away from all strangers and especially other dogs! As they are naturally dog aggressive! You could also deal with problems if your dog were to injure or even worse kill another dog!
My understanding is that Pets Best will be offering that kind of liability insurance by the end of the year. I think that's something that's just in the works, though, but should be available soon.

Can I get in trouble with the law?
If I abide by the leash law with the city(walking my dog on the leash) and my dog goes to the bathroom in my neighbors yard can I get in any kind of trouble with the police?
Answers:
Could be if you don't clean it up and the neighbor complains.
only if you don't pick it up
Depending on your city ordinances, but generally yes, you could recieve a citation that could result in a fine. U need a Poop Scoop, nasty job, but someone has to do it.
Your neighbor can file a complaint, and if your dog doesn't start eliminating in his own yard you can get a ticket. Plus, it's just bad manners.
I don't think that you can as long as you pick up after your dog. If you don't pick up you can be fined.
just pick it up to be on the safe side.
In my state, the leash law doesn't really say dogs must be kept on a leash. It says they are to be kept off other people's private property, and off city streets %26 highways. In that case, yes, you could be fined.
That's trespassing. If the dog's on a leash, you can keep it from going in the neighbor's yard.
It depends on what the town ordinance reads. Our reads that we are to clean up after the dog. We can be fined 50 dollars if we don't. But, the neighbor has to have proof. A photograph. Again, check our town ordinance. This will clear things up for you.
You will have to see if yall have a law on it, some cities do. Just to be safe, you should prolly take something to pick it up. Not only that it is just respectful if you do pick it. Would like to walk out into your yard and find that someones dog used the bathroom in your yard?

Can i get help to have my dog neutered?
I live in the uk and i am recieving benefits, is there any financial help for me to get my male terrier neutered?
Answers:
Call the city and get a list of all low cost or free spays or neuters in your area.
Speak to a Vet
ask a vet or the RSPCA
i could buy u the couple of bricks u need
The pdsa (peoples dispensary for sick animals) will help.
If you can't afford to own a pet, DON'T.
Phone your local PDSA or RSPCA. If you can prove benefits, you should be able to get him done for free. And leave a small donation if you can as it's polite!
yes u can. ring your local R.S.P.C.A they will pick your dog up and bring him or her back for a small cost. well, cheeper then the vet. had 3 dogs done by them. they use very good vets. the size of the dog will depend on the cost. bigger the dog more it costs. 拢80 at the most for a rotty.
Dogs trust will also do it quite cheap
can you afford this dog. if it gets ill or hit by a car can you afford treatment? i have seen too many dogs (some only puppies) that could have been treated and lived for longer if their owner could have afforded treatment.
i strongly advise you to insure your dog though on benefits you may not be able to afford that either
it is not fair on your dog if you can't afford what it needs
you may be able to qualify for free treatment by the PDSA if you meet their criteria and live in the right place
Hi,in google type in Dogs Trust do not be out off by there advert has its mainly for money,I know they encourage people to have there pets neutered im pretty certain you will get it done free there is also the R.S.P.C.A %26 P.D.S.A. they all do it for a donation. You are being very responible.Goodluck
pdsa will not neuter dogs, even if on benefits for free, but will recommend a vet for you, dont use them when you have to pay, very expensive, personal experience, they charge over the odds to help get back some money to cover the costs for free visits, but most towns have Pet Vacination Centres, look in yellow pages they seem to be the cheapest, about 50 i believe
Hi Scott
Sure you can. All you need to do it to ring the dogs trust and they will tell you when the next available truck will be near you locally. It cost me 拢10.00 to get my Westie spayed and chipping is free, for real i am not joking you.
All you have to do is phone your local PDSA or go in there a nd give them proof of housing benefit and/or council tax benefit they will then only charge you a small donation for treatments and a small percentage of vaccinations and flea treatments etc, I do this because im on benefits and balls to anyone who says DONT OWN PETS IF YOU CANT AFFORD! thats what the pdsa/rspca was set up for duh!
The PDSA don't do neutering or vaccinations.
In many cities there are schemes for low cost neutering, you need to ask a vet and local RSPCA, and check out the local press.
Some people REALLY PlSS ME OFF on this site!
You ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING getting your dog neutered. You obviously love your dog and want what's best for him. These people don't fully know your circumstances but choose to criticise anyway.
(Yes, I've criticised people on here in the past too, but I have at least given consideration first, wish more people would do that too.)
The PDSA was set up for people who have pets but not much money. Speak to them, or to Dogs Trust or RSPCA. I've never been in your situation so can't give any advice better than to contact them.
You don't say whereabouts in the uk you are, but look in the phone book, hopefully there'll be a PDSA/Dogs Trust or other neutering facility near you.
Good luck.
possibly. Try asking the RSPCA, or depending on where you live, spaywatch or the blue cross or PDSA may help. You have to provide proof of being on benefits.Different parts of the country have different schemes.
your local p.d.s.a will help you neuter your pet
Get two half house bricks, one in each hand .!
You really expect the ble*g tax payer to pay for that as well?
yes pdsa do it and rspca good luck that is guareenteed the do it
talk to your local vet or animal shelter. I used to volunteer for a cat shelter and the vet spayed/ neutered all the cats for free b/c we were trying to cut down the repopluation problem. so in most cases shelters want owners to spay/neuter their pets and if you tell them your situation they may be willing to help for free :)
good luck and thank you for being a responsible pet owner :)
if you are on benefits then you will be able to get this done free of charge, these ops cost a small fortune, so please think about the cost when you go back to get your dog from the vet after the small opp, a small donation is always more than welcomed x

Can I feed my puppy adult dog food?
I have a 10 week old French Bulldog, and I have tried him on all the puppy foods available, but he refuses to eat them! He tries to eat my other dogs food. The only other foods that he will entertain are Frolic mini and Beneful oh and freshly cooked chicken of course! I remember that some years ago, there was no such food as food formulated especially for puppies. I live in Spain so some of the foods I cannot get. Any advice would be welcomed as I want to ensure that my puppy is getting all the necessary vitamins and proteins that he needs. Thanks
Answers:
NO end of- unless you want problems with him later on in life!
why do you think they bought out puppy food?
you need to go and see a vet they will explain why he needs puppy food better than i can and will also be able to offer you alternatives
It should be ok, I was under the impression it just smaller chunks so if your dog's having trouble you could always mash it up a bit.
I'ld go see your vet, but they would be eating the same stuff in the wild, and you're quite right puppy food hasn't been around long, I would say that adult food is better than none, and maybe your vet would suggest a supplement or something if he feels your puupy isn't developing at the rate he should
Adult dog food could put more weight on the puppy then is healthy. If the pup is being stubborn and will only eat certain things, make sure you portion out his meals.
Good luck and enjoy the pup.
Adult dog food can be too rich for a young puppies stomach and make them ill. it might be an idea if he will eat chicken to mix the chicken in with the puppy food. your dog should NEVER be able to dictate to you what it will eat! but at that age bribery sometimes is all that can be done!
Hope this helps! Good luck!
i have a puppy i gave her adult food by mistake it made her very very sick. so no i would not.
Hi you can not give your puppy adult food till it is at least a year old coz adult food can upset their tummy so try different puppy foods i have a puppy my self an she loves bakers puppy food or you can try it on puppy dry food but do not give adult dog food it can harm him.
Call me a cynic, but doesn't everyone remember when there was no such thing as "puppy" or "kitten" food? Blatant marketing ploy if you ask me, and I'm sure they're more expensive.
We have a 10 month old cross spaniel, which we had has a 6 week old pup in Spain. We found that he also liked the adult food when he was still quite young so we kept him on it. It has done him no harm, as I do beleive it is only the size of the food that is the difference.
Good Luck with his training!
Actually the very good quality adult foods can do for a pup though 12 -16 would be better for the switch but if they don't eat..Puppy food is richer than adult so the problem could be undernurishment, Beneful (if it is the same as the US) would not be my first choice though Ask your vet or breeder about Spanish brands
Hi!
Congratulations on your new "baby". Now, as my gramma said, if he gets hungry enough, he will eat what he is given. But as a dog mom myself, one of the biggest reasons for puppy formula is increased protein for the rapid growth requirement of infancy. Compare the labels. Adult dog food certainly isn't harmful, as long as you meet his nutritional needs. Would you be able to add cooked chicken to his diet? Let him get really hungry, and feed him off by himself in a quiet place, where he isn't tempted by what the big guys eat. Dogs learn by watching their pack leaders and smell is a big part of how puppies learn what the right thing to do is. Try mixing some puppy formula in with his portion of adult food, and over the next few days, gradually increase the puppy chow and decrease the adult chow amount. He can certainly do well eating the mix of both. Check to be sure he is gaining weight, and that his fur stays shiny. Bright, clear eyes are another indicator of good health. If you give in to him and let him eat what he wants, you might try adding a vitamin treat so you don't worry so much. Hugs to the pack, sue.
You cannot feed him on adult food, Puppy food is called that for a rerason. It has higher levels of protein to help the pup grow properly.
You are making him fussy by chopping and changing. Buy one brand of puppy food, and leave him a bowl down. He will eat it when he gets hungry. Make sure he has no access to other food and no treats.
Once again I'm amazed by people's lack of knowledge. Does nobody ask questions or read labels? Puppy food does NOT differ from adult food just in the size of the bits. For goodness sakes. The levels of protein, calcium etc are higher to cope with a dogs rapid growth in the first year of it's life. Sure there was no such thing as puppy food 50 years ago, but then, most dogs died by the time they were 8, had rickets, got distemper, were alive with fleas and worms.
I sometimes wonder whether people are getting more stupid as time goes by.
dont listen to the people saying its ok to feed a puppy adult food because its not, like you said you want to make sure hes getting all the proper vitamins n minerals, i had the same problem with a pup i had , he wanted his mum n dads food and refused his own, so i just cooked a chicken fillet and mixed it in with his food, problem solved , you can even chop up the fillet and if your feeding him 3 times a day then split it into three so you have some for his other feeds and its cheaper to. or you can just do the same with scrambled egg. hes just being stubburn lol
My last German Shepherd refused to eat puppy food of any description I tried them all, he would only eat what my other 2 bitches were eating and yes I worried for a while but he thrived on it! he grew normally he never had problems with his joints or anything at his peak he weighed a healthy 7 and a half stones I was even approached by the local police and asked if I would sell him to them (I didn't), he lived to be 13 and a half, so I wouldn't worry too much about your French Bulldog, he will be fine, just keep an eye on him in case it gives him the runs or anything, but you are quite right, a few years ago there was no such thing as puppy food!
please please please do NOT give your puppy adult food its just to rich for their digestive system and it doesn't have enough ,vitamins, minerals and more importantly proteins or fats. they need for optimum bone and muscle growth and they don't just make the chunks smaller they brought it out for a very good reason and the formula in all good puppy foods has been researched for a long long time i hope this helps. so have have a word with your vet and i hope this issue gets resolved
He should be fine on a good quality adult dog food.. many people never feed puppies "puppy food".. it's actually better for them to eat a good quality adult food than an average puppy food.
Hello Carolina
I would leave it for a few more weeks, don't want to hurt him. Anyway I 'll eat any that is going spare, us hedgehog's love dog food. Yum Yum!
Glad to help theluckyhedgehog x
If you feed your puppy adult food he will recieve too many nutrients that will make him develop too quickly and could lead to joint problems.
Pick a dog food formulated for the needs of puppies and stick to it - otherwise he will become a very fussy eater and drive you crazy.
feed what the breeder did - take their advice
at about 6 weeks my jackx plummer pups were eating mothers food while she had to eat their puppy food saw two of them recently (now 10 months old) both big healthy boys so even though we are conditioned to buy puppy food seems the real stuff doesn't do any harm

Can I feed my 26 day old puppies canned food?
Hello all. I have a rat terrier and she had a litter of 9 born on the 2nd of October. Unfortunately 2 of them died. Now 26 days later they are teething and the mother pushes them away because she feels their teeth. This is also her first litter! She really is a good mom but the pups teething really bothers her. I am wondering if I can start feeding them canned food. I have tried feeding them Goats Milk through a bottle with no success. Is it okay to feed them canned food?
Thank you for your time to answer this question.
Answers:
first of all, take them to the vet to have them checked out for their health. then.ask the vet what to do.
probably, but also try putting hard dog food in a bowl w/ milk and then warm it up until the hard food is soft. thats what we did when our pups were three weeks old.
yeah their ready to be weaned. use a good quality puppy meat and add just a touch of water to make it more sloppy. in another couple of weeks try rice pudding sloppy weetibix and scrambled eggs they enjoy it and its good for them.
Weaning usually starts at three to four weeks of age. When weaning you will want to make sure you are weaning them onto some kind of puppy food. I'm not sure if there are many canned puppy foods out there, instead you can use dry puppy food which has been soaked until mushy.
If you try to supplement them with milk, you should use a puppy replacement milk, it is designed for them. Other mammal's milk does not have the right combination of proteins, minerals, fats and the like.
If your pups are 26 days old,,which in wks. is almost 4 wks. old the answer is yes.I usually begin my pups eating at 3 1/2 wks. old,but you must soak any dry kibbles in warn water til softened, then ad a small amount of a good brand of canned puppy food.If you just feed the canned food by itself it may cause some of them to have loose stools and then diarrhea is a problem to correct with young pups.Pups also should be wormed at 2wks.,4wks,6 wks,and so forth until around 12 wks. of age,but just be sure on the dosage, call your vet and ask.The Panacur dewormer is very safe, but must be given three days in a row.
yes you can feed them wet, moist can food, make it a little wet to start so they won't choke. If the mother is pushing them away, they will be hungry and chow down so offer a little to start - what a sight when they are covered with dog food on their face. Know that if you give dry food moisten , it will swell in their stomach and they can spit it back up - small portions of moist food, just feed more frequently and shallow bowls of water - any food change will cause diarrhea
this is what we did with one litter of puppies when the mom had milk fever and couldnt nurse anymore they were about 3 weeks old, we put puppy chow in a bowl and put warm water in there to where the puppy chow is soggy,, or you can put down oat meal but the puppy chow is better for them cause it is regular dog food,,, i hope this helps and congrat!! on your new puppies..
You can buy puppy milk.and puppy canned food. If the pups can lap with their tongue at food without chocking, let them have a runny mix of the puppymilk/food mixture. If they can't lap food, get them a puppy bottle, enlarge the hole a bit, so the mush can flow, and feed them with the bottle. Do NOT hold them as you would a baby (on their backs) but have them as they would feed from their mom, belly-side down.
In a few more weeks they can graduate to thicker foods, with less milk. In a couple of months they can have half wet food and half dry, stay on puppy food for a year.
Hello, this time last year I was raising two terrier mix puppies. I got them when they were 5 days old, their mother was extremely malnourished and 6 of 9 puppies died since they were born and left out in the cold.
They were on the bottle a while, but once I started introducing food I started them on a mixture of goat's milk, infant chicken food, and overcooked rice. Make sure that the baby food you use is meat and water, no preservatives or added salt etc. If they're doing well with this you slowly add puppy food to the mix until they are eating all puppy food.
I hope this helps. it got us through late night feedings even a case of puppy pneumonia.
Good Luck!
We start the puppies here on meatballs (raw hamburger) and rice pablum when they're about 3 weeks old, but don't let them move onto any more substantial food until they're about 5 weeks old. Their digestive systems just can't handle it.
It's not uncommon for mama dogs to want quit nursing when the pups' teeth come in, but the pups still need her milk because it's not only a source of nourishment, it's also providing them with a souce of immunizing antibodies that they cannot generate on their own.
When the pups are about 6 weeks old, they are usually old enough to give them their first vaccinations.
i Would Not Only Give Them Can Food I Would Mix It With Hard Food Too.That Is What I Did When I Got Mine That Young.

Can I feed dalmatians with bones?
Especially chicken bones, which is very brittle?
Will it wound their stomachs, etc.?
Is it safe?
Answers:
NEVER BUT NEVER FEED ANY COOKED BONES,
cooked bones splinter more easily than raw. chicken bones will splinter regardless of cooked or raw, and it depends on the bones given. If you give the neck or the back you are fine, even wing tips are fine, but not leg bones or breast bones.
I feed the raw diet and my dogs do get whole chickens, BUT%26lt; they have been use to this all their life and i do not give new dogs i rescue whole chickens, they get raw chicken without the bones.
Bones can not only get caught in their intestines if they splinter, but can get caught in their throats also. Your best bet is stay away from chicken bones and feed raw beef bones.
One word, no! Deffinately not, there's a risk of choking, if the bones brake at an angle, or have a sharp part, it can harm their insides. The only bones you should feed them is stuff like cow bones, go to a butcher and ask for bones, or get some dog treat ones. If you go to a butcher, boil the bones until it's fully cooked, dogs love them. Be sure to take it away once there small enough that you cant see it when they're chewing or there's sharp parts, because they can choke, we've learnt that the hard way.
I know many breeders and people who work and show their dogs that feed RAW chicken, with bones.
Never feed a cooked bone, that's what makes them brittle.
Try Deer legs too!
But always supervise your dog.. some of my dogs can handle certain bones that others cant.
The only safe bones to give any dog or cat are raw bones, never cooked or dried out. Raw bones will mash up when they chew them, cooked bones with shatter into tiny splinters that can pierce the lining of the stomach like a tiny tooth pick. The treatment for this is an operation and it's very expensive, otherwise the animal dies a very painful slow death
No, please no cicken bones! Could be harmful. Please use big beef bones that you boil first. And give them a big hug from me.
Best thing: NEVER feed dogs bones, any bone can splinter and get stuck in their throats, pierce their stomachs or intestines.
chicken bones? yes..only the neck part..i buy all the neck bone in the supermarket for my dal it's very very safe..trust me..but other part of the chicken never..never..never
If you are feeding something like the BARF diet where you feed raw chicken backs and necks that is fine and your dogs can tolerate those bones.
NEVER feed cooked chicken bones as they can splinter and kill a dog.
A dog can safely eat raw chicken and will not be harmed by salmonella or anything else. Their systems are set up to handle that type of stuff.
Many people feed a bones and raw food diet. It is somewhat complicated to make sure they get all the proper nutrition. But there are many great web sites on how and what to feed.
Common Sense is required here. If your dog is used to eating bones, then I would feel comfortable with him eating chicken bones. I have always allowed my dogs to eat bones from puppy up to old age and have never had a problem (they are carnivores). However, I am always supervising their behavior - if they are "gulping" or "panic eating" then I take the bone from them. Then they learn to slow down.
If he's never had chicken before, start with neck, carcass, and legs - bigger parts.
you should NEVER feed a dog chicken bones, it will puncture their stomach.
Will it wound their stomachs, etc.?
Is it safe?

can i feed a puppy rice?
Answers:
i feed my dogs boiled rice along with cooked chicken of fish. its good for them. but they only have this maybe once every 2weeks for a treat. you also need to feed a gud quality puppy food as well to give him/her the correct diet. scrambled eggs are also good to add to your puppys meals. if your talking about rice pudding thats also something else thats fine and they enjoy. try to stick with a good puppy food and maybe the odd treat of the rest.
I feed my dog rice cooked with chicken broth if he has an upset stomach, but never only rice.
Yes. i won't harm them. my dog always eats rice
Sure, brown is better than white rice, but why are you asking? Are you using it as the pups main diet? A treat? or are you trying a RAW diet?
Suggestion. stick with high grade, pre-made dog foods and treats until you know what is and isnt bad for dogs. Dont take chances when it comes to health :-)
Yes the vet Say's it's OK 2 give them rice.
I cook the rice with a stock cube 2 give it flavour then mix some mince or chicken it with it 4 my dog's and they love it.
i always feed my pit bulls rice and chicken it makes them gain waight
Yes! Some people feed their doggies only rice! I would limit the amount though, it could make them have dirrea.
Good Luck!
~Froggie
if its coked i sometimes feed him little bit of rice its normal
go ahead!
yes, i feed my dog rice, its healty thats why us chinese people eat them everyday!
yes, absolutely. Rice is actually a very good source of energy for dogs. Just don't feed him too much. a puppy's stomach is very fragile and too much of anything will make him sick. So if you are feeding him rice for every single meal, i highly suggest that you try buying a puppy chow formula. it will be easier on his stomach and will give him a complex mixture of nutrients that he will not get by eating rice alone. These questions can all be answered by your veterenarian. Hopefully you have seen a vet with your new dog and if you haven't, please do so a.s.a.p.
Yes you can but it had no nutritional value whatsoever. YOu can add chicken and shredded carrots ot make a fantastic meal though.
Yes you can but only a small amount. I usually mix it in with my dogs regular food.
yes if you look in good dog food there allmost allways is rice in it
can i clip my pupys nails?
i have a 1 month pupy and i want to know if i can file or clip his nail a little bit becasue they are to sharp.
Answers:
If your puppy is only 1 month old, I am assuming you are also the breeder.
The best way to clip their nails at this young age is with a human fingernail clippers. Their nails are soft, %26 quite small, it would be difficult %26 dangerous to attempt doing this with a trimmer designed for the adult dog.
Start with the back paws. Try to lay the puppy in the crook of your arm on it's back (have someone help stroke its head to keep its attention if the puppy squirms) %26 gently hold the back paws, taking off just the tips of the nails. It will almost be as though you didnt trim anything at all, but it will make a difference. There should be a thinning %26 slight hooking at the end of the nail, that is all you want to remove.
Once you have finished the back paws, rearrange the puppy so that it has its hind paws on your lap, %26 the front paws hooked over hand, which is cupping its chest. Then trim the front nails in the same fashion.
If the puppy starts to squirm quite a bit, it is best to stop completely %26 give it some different attention, let it lick your face, make noises %26 distract it. then reposition %26 start all over with the next nail. At this age, you want it to be totally pain-free %26 unstressful, it will make future trimmings that much easier.
Ideally you should trim the nails once to twice a week, depending on the surfaces they are walking on %26 how much wear they are getting. Best of luck!
Yes. But you need a special nail clippers designed to dogs.
And please be careful. If you clip too deep you'll cut into an vien, which will cause their nails to bleed.
yeah
yes, don't wait too long or it will bite you when you do
Yes, just be mindful of where the quick is.
Yeah, it is easy you just need to have puppy clippers the groomers clip them and so can you.
Yes you can, and pet supply stores have the special clippers to do it.
yes but be careful not to cut past the blood line
Of course you can.
Make sure you don't cut the quick though. If your not sure how to do it ask your vet to show you. Cutting them to short can make the dog bleed and it HURTS. The same as if you cut your nails to short.
They make nail clippers for dogs with guards on them that allow you to only cut "so much". It basically shaves a little piece of nail off. Also stay away from the guillotine type nail clippers (the kind where you put the nail in a little arch way and the blade comes up from the bottom or down from the top), they tend to smash the nails before cutting them (ouch!)
I"d take him to the Vet for the first tim and you can have the Vet show you how to do but it usually takes 2 people to do it safely and correctly. Puppys(dogs and Cats) have a vein inside the nail and if the puppy's nails are dark just about imposible to see and it is most important that the vein is not cut for very painful for the puppy and it will bleed and you must have septic pencil or liquid to apply and stop the bleeding so take him to the Vet if its bothersome but do not try yourself-the vet also has special clippers for animal nails
yeah unless u dont no wat ur doin
yeah, you can, but be super careful just to get the very tips of the toenails because you can easily cut the quiks of the toenails and then the puppy will bleed and be scared and nervous every time you or a groomer tries to groom his nails.
yes you can cut the puppies nails. don't cut past the bend of the toe nail and buy some toenail quik incase you cut back too far and make them bleed. white toenails are the easiest, you can see the quik, pink. black toe nails require more adjusting. never cut past bend of toenail, you'll see white when you clip. good luck.
I would not attempt cutting my dog's nail if I have one. Although some of the people here gave details of doing it (a few good ones too) please take your puppy to a vet or grooming center so that they can show you exactly how. Then next time you could do it yourself.
you can but if you don't know how then don't. dogs nails has this bed that you cannot touch and definitely not clip
Yes you can. If you've never done it before, I recommend bringing him to the vet first, to see how - you don't want to hit the quick and make him bleed. With a puppy that young, you should be able to use a regualr fingernail clipper.

Can I bathe my dog with flea shampoo if she is nursing pups?
The pups have gotten a few fleas from mom. The pups are only 3 days old. I am concerned about bathing mom with anything toxic right now. When can I bathe the pups? How can I control the fleas on the pups? Help!!
Answers:
Absolutely not..Sorry, but there is not much you can do for mom yet, other than bathing, brushing and combing to get the fleas out of her coat..
You can safely give her a bath with Dawn or Ivory dish soap, or Ivory bar soap.Leave the soap on for at least 5 minutes, and then rinse very well..Use 1/4 cup of vinegar or lemon juice in the last gallon of rinse water..This will kill all of the fleas that are on her, but she will soon have them again from her surroundings..
You have to bathe right after the puppies have nursed, and get her completely dry and back to the puppies within 2 hours..That's a big chore..
Or, you can call your vet to get a flea control that is safe for her and the babies..
But, if you use the flea shampoo on her at this time, I can guarantee it will kill the babies..You can't rinse it all off, as enough will absorb in her skin to poison the puppies..
NO! Bath her in warm water with a few drops of Dawn dish washing liquid, and then rinse her thoroughly.
PS I don't know why, but Dawn kills fleas.
I wouldn't. Some flea products are quite toxic. Veterinarians can prepare meds in small doses for young animals which would be much safer for the babies.
No! Bathing your dog with anything that has a pesticide in it (any of the flea shampoo's on the market) is HIGHLY dangerous at this point, especially if she is still nursing.
Call your vet if the flea problem is really bad, they will be able to recommend something for you.
My dog has never had puppies so I wouldn't know. Why don't you find out then you can tell me if it is a good idea or not.
Good Luck!
get poisoned shampoo then
OH NO!
I would not reccommend doing that at all. The shampoo residue and smell would be toxic to the babies, although it is obvious that you need to do something. Call your Vet, we really don't have fleas in Alaska so this is new to me.
Yes,but be very careful,to make absolutely sure that you take plenty of clean water, and rinse off any trace of the shampoo from her breast. If the puppies get in into their mouths, and swallow it,it might make them very sick. Rinse her breast thoroughly to remove any of the shampoo.
I wouldn't if I were you. I can go to a feed store or a garden store and ask for a product called Diatomaceous Earth. Its all natural and non-toxic, you can even put it on the puppies. The product has the texture of unsifted flour. Its made up of small fossilized creatures called diatoms. When an insect walks through it, it cuts into their exoskeleton and causes them to dehydrate. It takes two or three days before the fleas are gone but its safe. You can use it for any bug problem. I have a toddler and was told by our doctor this product is safe enough to eat.
no do not use shampoo, may not hurt the pups on outside, but will start to absorb through nursing. use dawn dish soap. will kill fleas on contact and not harmfull at all
The best thing to do is call your vet to see if they have any suggestions i don't think you can bathe her in flea shampoo. Even if you do she will still get fleas from her pups. And it is best to do it as soon as possible because the puppies can get sick from the fleas at thier age..Call Your vet and MAKE SURE you use frontline or advantix in the future!
Give the mother a bath with DAWN dishwashing soap. This will be safe for the mom and pups. Use the same amount of soap as you would for giving the mom a bath with other shampoo. It will suds up alot. This will kill the fleas and eggs. You can actually see the dead fleas go down the drain. Rinse well to get all the soap off. Then dry. Then let her go back to her babies.

Can I adopt an abandon dog?
There is a jack russle terrier in our trailor park, she has owners but they let her stray and she has untreated medical conditions and I went to the owner to have her permission to take her in. They leave her out in the cold and rain and they dont feed her, but they said no I cant have her, I let her in to sleep at night and I feed her and keep her in when it's cold. I have the money and time to care for her so could she do anything if I just took the dog in and kept it as mine. The dog had puppies too and she was so uncared for they all died but 2 wich other people took in and cared for. I just dont want to get in any trouble
Answers:
yes
Call the humane society on them! Thats cruelity to animals. It's also against the law.
I am praying that you get to keep the dog because you sound very caring and loving.
you should report these ppl for abusing this dog
Call Animal Humain Services on them.
cook the dog to make sandwiches
hmmmm touchy deal.ask them to buy her.
take it in and keep it. if anyone says anything about it you can talk to some of the local animal places..i really hope everything works out for the best in your favor.
Take the collar off the dog and turn it into the human society in the next town. Make sure you let them know if no one claims it that you want it and they will usually let you adopt her right out. Once you have the paperwork from the pound there is nothing they can do. By turning it in a ytown away it will be harder for them to find her though it doesn't sound like they will look too hard for her. Just make sure you tell them you found her abandoned and that you have no clue who the owners are.
Call the animal shelter to report animal abuse and let them know that you would adopt the dog.
You will get in trouble for taking the dog, the best thing to do is call the humane Society or pound in your area.. They will come pick up the dog.. Go to the pound where they took the dog and make it known to them you are the one who called about the dog and that you would like to adopt it..Good Luck on saving the poor baby. I wish there was a way to treat the people the same way they treat thier animals.. Some people just dont deserve to have animals..
Call the humane society. They can take the dog away and you can buy it from the rescue center. I hope this dog will be okay and live a happy life with you. you did a good deed here taking her in. People who can't care for a dog shouldn't have tham.
Call the ASPCA in your area tell them the problem. They will come and take the dog, treat the dog and legally the dog becomes the property of the state and then can be put up for adoption. You can put in a request to adopt the dog at the time of the call, they are willing to adopt the dog to you so the dog has a guaranteed home. The problem with this, is that you live very close to these people and may have issues with them after its all said and done.
Yes, they can sue you for stealing property (the dog).
These people are obviously heartless idiots, call your local ASPCA and tell them about the dog and the owners, they are not being responsible, and if you can take pictures of the dog!
get the animal rights people on them and call the police or animal control in your area
It sounds as though you need to contact your local animal control and ask them to investigate, you may also want to explain to them the situation. Maybe if the people are warned about the care of the dog, or if the dog is removed from them then you could adopt it from the shelter. Animal control can give you more information about your local laws regarding this matter.I commend you for the care you are giving this poor animal. There should be more people like you in this world, there are so many unwanted pets. Also ask your neighbors for support when it comes to the animal control.
Technically, you can't just take the dog, as it is theirs, even tho they are neglecting it. Your best bet is to call local animal services, be sure to tell them everything about how they treat the dog and care for it (or don't in this case). Let them know that if they end up seizing the dog, that you would like to be first on the list to adopt her.
Worst case scenario, they won't seize the dog, but will force the owners to better care for her. It might help if you have some of the folks who took those pups in come forward as witnesses to how the owners neglect their dog, too.
report the owner for cruelty to this poor dog. and ask if you could adopt her.i hate people that neglect animals! involve the SPCA!or animal control !!the owners will get in trouble for abuse!! and they certainly would deserve it! i appreciate how you take care, of this poor dog.good luck to you,i hope you get this dog!!
You are not legally within your rights to take their dog. Call animal control in your area and report these people.
Bless you for taking care of this poor little dog.
Call your local animal control when you see the dog outside without shelter or food. Tell them if the owners dont claim her you will take the dog. Call them the next day and tell them again you want the dog.If they dont take care of her they will probably not look for her either.
You need to file a report on the owners for animal abuse and neglection. Talk to a vet about it they can help you! I hope this helps some!! And I sure hope you get to have the dog!
Sincerely,
A Dog Lover
you need to turn them into the humane society, one of the options is they release the dog to them, then the dog will be available for adoption. but definitely turn them in, and continue to until they respond, just for the dogs sake. it is unfair to her. good luck. but be careful if you do end up with her, you live next to them, and problems will follow.
In North Carolina this would be felony dognapping. I would hazard a guess that other states have similar laws. You just can't get around that dogs are property.
Your best bet to care for this dog is to talk to the owners, which you have done, and then report violations to the animal control department in your jurisdiction. It is against the law not to feed the animal, not to give it shelter (Legally they can be outside if they have a shelter from the elements), and not to treat medical conditions.
If they will not care for the dog, Animal control can charge them. Many have said that the humane society will take the dog. Humane societies usually are not authorized to take dogs in abuse cases. This is the job of animal control. They will not take the dog either, but will tell the owners how to correctly care for the animal and charge them if they do not. Sometimes they can talk the owner into surrendering the dog, but this is the owners decision until the AC officer decides to charge them with neglect. All bets are off if the animal is in immediate danger (of death usually). Then can can take the dog immediately without owner authorization. Usually though, the AC officer tells them what they have to do to comply and gives them a chance to do the right thing. Still, they may be more willing to give the dog to you if they are required to pay large expenses in order to meet the dog's basic needs. Which is of course their responsibility..
Have you tried offering them money for the dog? Course they could just go out and get another.
If the owners found out, they could potentially fight with the law to get the dog back.
I think the best idea, in the interest of you and the dog, is to take it, find a rescue shelter several hours away from you, and bring the dog there. Remove any collars and hope the dog isn't microchipped, and tell the shelter you found him on the side of the road. If its far enough away, chances are the shelter will not be able to contact the owners, and the owners won't think of looking that far away for such a little dog. The shelter will be able to treat the medical conditions and find the dog a loving home.
For better or worse, once a dog has been adopted through the Humane Society or SPCA, they will not give out the adopted family's name even if the owner eventually tracks the shelter down- it's against their policy. If you can get heradopted through there, she will be safe forever. I would definitely choose an SPCA or Humane Society as opposed to Animal Control or a smaller, private shelter. Just make sure it's a no-kill shelter, whatever you do.
And God bless you for caring so much. That dog is lucky she has someone to fight for her.
Your best bet is to just take it to a shelter so it can get medical care and then adopt it from them. They'll put it on hold for a few days to find the owner. Which I doubt they would look for the dog. Then you can adopt it and that way its all legal.
you should call the humane society and report the abuse of the animal and then make sure they know that when the dog is taken you are very interested in adopting him. this should work. good luck and i hope you get her
Call animal control. Advise them of the situation and they will pick up the dog, charge the owners with neglect, void their rights and after the suitable waiting period, they will inform you that you can claim the dog.
Good luck and thanks for caring for the doggies!
If they "abandoned" the dog (not feeding it, not giving it water, neglecting it: in other words it's like the dog doesn't have an owner) then just keep it. I was told by the humane services here that if you have possession of the dog for 2 weeks then it is your dog. By possession, I mean feeding, watering, etc. I would clue your local humane society in.
Tell them that the dog is basically a stray, but that a woman claims ownership, but doesn't do anything for the dog. If you are the one taking care of it, then you own it. Possession is 9/10 of the problem.
I would have done the same thing. But what u can also do is call the ASPCA on the owners to give the dog justice.
If the dog needs medical attention and the owners are not getting the dog looked at by a vet, you can file a report with your local animal control. Their job is to help get owners to be responsible for their pets or to emancipate the animals so that the animals can be properly cared for. It is best to utilize services provided by your city and not to confront the owner directly.
You could be saving a life.
If you take the dog, you are risking getting arrested no matter what the circumstances. You report this to the police so a paper trail starts; they will instruct you or they will contact the animal control in your area then you can let them know that you are available to adopt the dog. Beware, people are crazy ; some people feel if I can't have them no one can ; once it hits whether they are arrested etc, it has a better chance to get into the news and be picked up by animal lovers (they are in the masses as well as yourself) file a complaint - don't wait until it is too late. I wish you good luck for the sake of another abused neglected animal !

can humans Give ringworm to there pets?
i know that pets can pass ringworm onto humans but is it possible the other way
Answers:
yes,
Ringworm is a funny name for a fungus and I don't know how this name came about, but ringworm is a skin problem in humans and many pets.especially long haired cats. The disease is usually a minor problem and easy to get rid of, but not always. The interesting thing is that most of us think we know what ringworm lesions look like.pink, raised, dry little patches. Often itch. Well, that's often true, but sometimes there aren't any obvious little lesions, just various forms of dermatitis. General itchiness, excessive shedding, dry skin etc.
Ringworm is not caused by worms, but by several different types of fungi. People can get this skin and scalp disease just by touching the skin or fur of an infected animal, typically a cat, which holds the fungal spores. Ringworm can also infect dogs, ferrets, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs and other animals.
Signs of the disease can be "virtually invisible" in some cats and dogs, says Wilmot, but they can still transmit the disease to people. Others will lose patches of fur or hair, exposing bare skin with a lesion that is sometimes ring-like and itchy. Ringworm in people may show itself as a ring-shaped, reddish, itchy rash that can be dry and scaly or wet and crusty.
Keeping animal areas clean will help prevent ringworm, since the disease-causing fungi grow in dirt and contaminated bedding. In addition to contracting it from animals, people can also get ringworm from contact with other infected people or their personal items.
Topical and oral medications may be used to treat ringworm in people and pets.
its usually the other way around but its probably likely if you can get it from them..you can probably pass it to them
I'm not positive, but it's a fungus so I would assume that they could.
Yes absolutely, ring worm is very contagious.
I don't know.Who asks stuff like this? do you have a life
Yes, it can be transfered either way.

Can humans catch giardia from dogs?
i volunteer at an animal shelter where i help socialize with dogs and keep them company and i was playing with a black lab puppy. later on, one of the workers came buy and told me to leave the cage cause the dog had giardia. he said humans can get it, but i wasn't sure. anyway, i immediately went and washed my hands up to the elbows, and then sanitized them with the germ killing thing.
then i changed my clothes and took a shower when i got home. i left the dirty clothes outside, and didn't bring them in the youse.
Answers:
Yes, Giardia can be spread to humans. All i've ever heard of it causing was diarrhea. I wouldn't worry too much though, I've come in contact with dogs with Giardia a lot and I've never had it. If you do develop diarrhea and think you have Giardia, contact your doctor.
Giardia
Giardia is a protozoan parasite that lives in the intestine of affected animals. It is unclear whether there are several species of this parasite or whether there is one species that affect several different animals, including people. These small parasites are very easy to miss on a fecal exam and may not be present in the stool of animals infected with the organism. Repeated fecal exams are sometimes necessary to identify this parasite. Not all animals in which infection can be demonstrated have clinical signs. This leads some people to believe that the parasite may not cause disease . Most vets think that there may just be other factors, like the animal's immune response to the parasite that cause some animals to develop disease and not others. Clinical signs of giardia include weight loss, inability to gain weight appropriately during growth, diarrhea, vomiting, lack of appetite and greasy appearing stools. Them most commonly used medication for giardia infection is metronidazole (Flagyl). The organisms come from the environment and live in moist to wet areas. They are susceptible to quatenary ammonium disinfectants, Lysol and dilute chlorine bleach. Keeping the dog's environment dry helps a lot.
This disease may be contagious to people from infected dogs so good sanitary practices, like washing your hands after handling an infected puppy, are very important. If a family member develops similar clinical signs, a physician should be consulted.
Mike Richards, DVM
YES they can..and it is horrible for humans to get. You are doing the right thing with alot of hand washing, and I would wash my clothing in hot water and a bleach-type of treatment or soap. No need to be afraid-just take very good measures to prevent it. If you have to clean pens or cages,be sure to be gloved and use bleach when cleaning.
No, you can't get it from a dog. Giardia comes from drinking water contaminated with it. Only if you drink the same water the dog drank from before getting sick, would you be able to get it. Okay I can always admit when I was wrong. Check out the link below. You could get it from a dog, but if you wash your hands after handling the dog, you should have no worries.
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/.
We had 2 pups come down with giardia and lost one, almost lost the other. Thru a process of elimination, we knew that the pups got giardia from the sprong water that is piped into our house. It was the only water the pups had drank as they were inside dogs. Now, we do not drink or give the spring water to our dogs to drink.
yes
my son had this when he was little and I immediately thought he must have gotten it from our dobermans or yorkie..had everyone tested and they were all clear..turned out that it came from daycare where the workers weren't washing their hands after changing diapers, etc
then i changed my clothes and took a shower when i got home. i left the dirty clothes outside, and didn't bring them in the youse.

can heart worm pills cause seizers in pitt bulls?
Answers:
It should not. Was your dog tested negative for heartworm before you gave a preventative? If your dog was positive and you gave a heartworm preventative it can make your dog sick or kill it. If your dog is having seizures I would get it in to your vet so he/she can prescribe an anti-seizure medication if needed
yea
Absolutely if you gave them to the dog without testing for heart worms first. As mature worms die and brake up they will clog arteries just like blood clots do.
Only if your dog was heartworm positive when you gave him the pill. At least that's the only time I've ever seen that happen. What type of prevention is he/she on and how long has he/she been on it?
I have 3 dogs that have seizures and they are controllable with Phenobarbital or Potassium Bromide. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and what course of treatment would be best.
if they over dose on them it can; I put my lab in the garage while cutting the grass; he found the meds and chewed the top off; when I found him a few hours later he was seizing and died before I could get him to the vet;
Never heard of a pit bull or any terrier having any problems with seizures caused by heartworm preventative.
Call your vet.
No
Can four yr. old cockerspaniels have mental disorders?
Answers:
Any dog could have a mental disorder.
Any age dog could have mental disoreders.
HAve your dog evulated by a trainer or someone qualified in behavioral training or modification.
yep! sure can, any age, any breed, any owner..oh, you mean the dog, sorry :-) My sister had a cocker spaniel, I gave it to her for Christmas one year. That was the nuttiest dog I have EVER met. NEVER could potty train him and when they left the apt for even an hour to go grocery shopping he went bezerk! It was so sad to see him get all worked up when the keys jingled or the leash came out. He did not want to go with, did not want to stay home by himself. I'm pretty sure he is the reason she won't own a dog to this day and it's been over 20 years!!
Yes - but please add more specific details. If the dog has just suddenly had a personality change at 4, it may have some cause like pain, a brain tumour, or having been traumatiized. If it has always seemed not right, that may be that dog's personality, unfortunately. When I worked for vets, we had quite a few people put down badly bred Buff Cockers for biting - usually children.
There are a mind-boggling number of mental disorders. It's amazing how many things can go wrong. The book describing mental disorders (DSM IV) is three inches thick. Dogs have brains, too, which means that things can go wrong for them, too. Your vet may have something to say about your cocker spaniel, or he may recommend an animal behavior specialist.
Cockers do have a higher incidence of neurological problems like epilepsy, narcolepsy, as well as spinal disease.
can dogs take claritin for bad allergies?
Answers:
No, dogs cannot take Claritin. They can take Benadryl, I give 1/2 tablet for a small dog, 1 tablet for a large dog.
Your vet will perscribe the proper medication. Don't self-medicate the dog, when you don't know what you're doing. Anyway, the human dose is way too much for a dog.
Dogs can not process human food or medications the way we do. You have to get special allergy pills from the vet. My dog is on some for her allergies.
Ask your vet. An animal should never take any people medicine without a vet's approval.
Unsure of Claritin, but depending on the size a dog can take benedryl.(2) tablets for a large dog about 100 lbs or more.
yea i give my dog half a pill everyday.i have a small dog though so a big dog like a lab etc can have a full one.i have prescription stuff from the vet though so i dont know about human stuff
No, that is a medicine made for people and is not healthy for dog consumption. The dog will puff up and the allergies will only get worse. I am a vet and I have seen a case like it before.
NO! The Vet can tell you what your dog can take for allergies and any other problem. Animals can not take drugs prescribed for people it can kill them.
Please consult with your vet before you prescribed your own medicine for your dog. Last time I checked, the vet doesn't charge for a phone call :). Some human medication will severely hurt your dog, or you can overdose your dog if you don't know how to properly dose the medicine.
You can give your dog Benadryl, though. The rule is 1mg per pound of body weight. In other words, if your dog weighs 25 pounds, he can have a 25 mg capsule. PLEASE STILL CONSULT WITH YOUR VET BEFORE YOU DO THIS THOUGH!!
Please don't risk your dog's health by taking the advice of someone on here. The chances that you get a vet. to respond are slim. Even if they say they are - you have no validation. Call your vet. If you don't have one - call a Vet. hospital or clinic. They will most likely want to see your dog - to evaluate him/her before deciding. But, isn't your friend's health worth it?
My vet has told me to give my dogs benedryl for their allergies. Once in awhile I'll have to take one of them in for an allergy shot or pills, but the vet's ok with the benedryl if it's working. Thank God the allergy season is almost over! (Here in Ohio)
DO NOT give your pet over the counter meds meant for humans! Their systems are lot different and don't respond the same way. PLEASE check with your vet and ask for a prescription from them after a check up. Peace!
Vin
No claritin, but you can give them some Benadryl in emergencies. I can't remember the dosage per weight, though. I'd suggest calling your vet and asking what they would recommend.
My dog has bad allergies, and whenever she gets bad, we give her 1-2 pills. 2 is only if we really need to like, knock her out though. And she's around 55 pounds, so keep that in consideration.
The biggest difference between human medications and ones made specifically for dogs is the doseage (and I know this because this is what we are discussing right now--I'm studying animal medicine).
Anyway! My vet suggested Benedryl too. My dog is 80 lbs and he said one every 4 to 6 hours for her. I wouldn't do the Claritin, mainly because the ingredients between it and Benedryl are different.
But my fore-most suggestion would be to find out what is causing the dog's allergies and then try to remove that from the environment. Most store-bought dog foods contain wheat, which most dogs have allergies too. So I'd double check the food and even switch to something else before drugging the dog.
Definately discuss all possible options with the vet first!
I don't know about claritin specifically, but I know you could give them benadryl. You might want to check with your vet first though. I'm unsure of the doses, it goes according to weight. Also, places like Pet Smart and PetCo carry all types of products for pets with allergies.
Someone mentioned that they can take Benadryl, and said "two tablets for a 100-lb dog" - but that's still very vague, as Benadryl comes in several different dosages. The pills we use for my dog are 25mg pills. She weighs 35 lbs and gets one pill. We put it in a ball of peanut butter, about a teaspoon, which is her favorite treat. It makes her sleepy, just like it would for a human. (Over-the-counter sleep aids are almost always antihistamines!)
Smaller dogs may need a smaller dose. Dosage information is widely available online: do a search, or ask your vet. We give our dog this medication because our vet told us it was OK.
Benadryl is Diphenhydramine HCl. Claritin is not the same substance as Benadryl, and cannot be used interchangably. Don't give it to your dog unless a vet has told you it's OK.
No. In a pinch, benadryl would work, but you need to consult a vet anyways(!!) on dosing. Why risk it?
can dogs shiver from the cold?
my dog has started shaking and shivering for no apparent reason any ideas?
Answers:
My mongrel shakes alot. mostly because he is cold. but also he had problems with his muscels when he was a puppy and now the quiver if he sits still for two long at a time.
but yes a dog can shiver in the cold and sometimes for no apparent reason, also check your house to see if there is anything that could be making him nervouse. if it persists consult your vet.
it could be nervousness or she could be cold.
yes they can shiver from cold and shiver because they're nervous
Take im to the vet hun. It could be a fear of something or anything. Get im checked out.
our dog shakes all the time when he is cold - we just wrap him in a blanket and he's fine
Yes.
Why not?
could be cold but is it possible that your dog is worrying about something? - my dog used to shiver for about a month after fireworks night because he was scared!!
If you are in cold weather right now, get a heating pad and place it unter a blanket where ever he sleeps or lays the warm blanket will help he a lot. My border collie did that a lot until she got use to the weather change and she still likes the pad under her blankets.
If she is a short haired dog then it is possible that it is the cold; the best solution for that would be a dog coat. I have a rat terrior and she literally freezes without the thing. Other than that your dog could have been scared by something or someone. It really depends on how she acts around you.
If it is warm when it starts shaking and shivering I would take the dog to a vet and find out if something is going on.
yep my labrador is a right wimp he shivers when i make him go out in the garden to do his buisiness, but my other 2 dogs don't seem to be as bothered by the cold when i let them all out.
i don't leave them out for long either just till there done lol
If it happened all of a sudden I say vet. If you were giving him a bath or he got into some water outside I say he's just cold. They do shiver from cold and from nerves. In some cases though it could be something else which is why I would say vet.
Sure, all dogs can shiver, but they are just as likelly to shiver from excitement as they are from the cold. Shivering increases body temp, and panting decreeses body temp.
Yes they sure can. My oldest girl seems to get cold easier as she ages. I get her to lie in front of the fire for a while, and she soon warms up and is a happy bunny again.
he may need a jab
Absolutely! Dogs get cold just like people, especially smaller dogs! If that is the case, get him/her a sweater. Some people think that putting a sweater on dogs is "cruel" or whatever they want to call it, but it really works. Your dog will love you for it.
My dog shivers when he's cold but he also shivers if he's nervous.
Could be from the cold weather if it is outside when this occurs. Could be a multitude of things if it doesn't. IMO, he should see a vet and get a proper diagnosis. If it is from being out in the cold, the get him a sweater or coat. They make them for dogs.
Dogs shiver from being cold %26 from being scared.
yeah they do but if its not obviously cold it will mean he or she is nervous.

can dogs sense when a human is upset, angry , or happy?
Answers:
I have a few dogs, and I believe that all of them can sense how I'm feeling. I know it sounds weird, but sometimes when a human and an animal become extremely close, they can sense things about one another and almost communicate without speaking, telepathically, if you will. Some people even think that when they're out and about, and when they suddenly think of their dog, the dog is trying to send them a message or the dog is thinking about you. There are many different beliefs out there.
I think that dogs can certainly sense those things. For centuries and centuries, dogs and humans have seemed to have a special connection. When a dog sees us yelling, or hitting someone else (even if we're just joking), it makes them nervous. When I yell or have a fake slap fight with someone, one of my dogs goes crazy and starts barking, and she tries to bite me and/or the other person to get us to stop. When one of my dogs sees me crying, she cuddles by me on my bed. And when I'm happy, my dog is always wagging her tail and following me. (When I say my dog, I'm referring to the dog who I'm closest to.)
It's really amazing what animals, not just dogs, can sense. I communicate non-verbally with horses, too. It's just amazing what can be accomplished when you and an animal develop a close bond.
probably
I think that they can.
yes they can..
Of course they can, they can also sence if you're sick.
Yes definitely, if I'm mad I have one dog that will go and hide, he is a rescue dog, and he's very good, but he always knows - I don't even have to say anything and he knows. My german shepherds can also tell, they also know when I'm afraid, so they must be able to sense the other emotions.
They definately can. Our dogs feed off of our excitement, come sit or lay with us when we are sad, and sit at the doorway with their heads low and ears back when we are fighting.
Yes - of course they do. There are also some dogs that can sense when someone with epilepsy are about to have a seizure
Yes. And, some dogs can sense when a person is having an epileptic seizure, a stroke, heart attack, and many other things. Make your dog a part of your 'pack' and he will never let you down!
Yes they can. It comes from the bond an animal and owner have.
Isn't it amazing how a dog can sense our emotions when our own species don't even have a clue?
Yes, they really do. And if you have a good bond with your pet they will be comforting when you are sad. Thats is the best thing about dogs! They can show you that they love you in all sorts of great ways and really mean it!
yeah they like sense the tension some how and they do get upset if they like lose a friend because i had a dog that was kenneled next to another dog, puddles. when puddles passed away the other day was veryy depressed and would barely eat.
I've read that they can. It makes since when you think about it. You probably put out chemicals from your emotions and dogs have great noses. I know that my dogs know.
Yes they can. If I am upset my dog Justice will come and lay his head on my lap. Same if I am crying. Everyone knows when I'm angry they all run and hide. (even the kid and hubby). But then again my dogs think they are human.
Yes they can they feed on your emotions
One of my dogs can, the other is a spaz. But my little girl, absolutely knows when I'm upset and she always tries to comfort me.
definitely. They can tell from body language, etc.
yes mine knew when i was preg. before i did
Absolutly they can. They are very much in tune with our feelings and emotions. Watch their actions when you are sick if you have any doubts.
Mine can. My boys dote on me if I am upset or sick. They get boisterous when I am happy.
I'm sure you can tell when a loved one is upset, angry or sad. Dogs are not stupid. They know how to read your body language and they know your moods just by the way you breathe.
They sure can, there's also studies going to see if dogs can predict epileptic fits %26 earthquakes.
can dogs sense a pregnancy ?
was wondering if my dog can tell if im pg even before i get + test?? He is acting as possessive as he did when i was pg with my last baby.
Answers:
I say its possible. They have been running tests to prove that dogs can sense cancer and other medical conditions, so why not pregnancy?
Congrats if you are pregnant!!
He may be able to smell something, hormones maybe, or he may notice a change in your behavior.
congratulations
Yea they can. Dogs can sense alot of things that humans can't!you can be on the floor playing with your dog and he'll know that then the next minute you can be having a heart attack and he'll know that your not playing that your in trouble and in pain! that's just an example to prove a point!
I do believe so.
I don't know for sure but it is defiantly possible and believable. I was watching a news show once that was saying that certain dogs can detect cancer. they probably can do all kinds of stuff we don't know about
Why yes he can, and at the moment the sense that he happens to be using is smell. A dog's nose is a highly developed peice of equipment. A dog that knows you well is perfectly aware of your average hormone level, how you smell when you're sick/ healthy ect. So it would be no surprise if he was smelling your pregnancy right now. But don't let your pup be your doctor, get tested, lol.
Yes i do believe they can sence that someone is pregnant and also i believe that they can sence if there is something is wrong with someone like illnesses before even before humans do like for instences i got dignosed with cancer and my dog knew something was wrong before we even did,,, he was very over protective of me and he would not leave my side I couldnt even go to the bath room with him being in there
I hope this helps and Congat!! if your pregnant
I swear they can! My dog was acting REAL stange around my freind for weeks and I kept commenting what the he!!? come to find out she was pregnant. She never really pays to much attention to houseguests, but when she (el Preggo) was over, the dog would stand around her and bark at anyone who came near her being really possesive and lovey. It was the funniest thing and we still laugh about it years later. I swear this dog is smarter than an EPT! It has happened to several other pregnant friends too. Not to me yet thankfully!
I truely believe dogs can sense things like that. My lab starting being extra attentive to me stuck to me like glue always there resting his head on me etc.later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. He continued acting this way thru all my treatments. I believe that they can sense the chemical/hormonal changes in our bodies. And read something recently they are actually doing tests on this now.
LMAO!
NO!
Dogs DON'T have "ESP" ! They DO have NOSES!

Can dogs safely have a rib bone?I have heard you aren't supposed to give dogs chicken bones, not sure about rib
Answers:
Yes, rib bones are delicious for dogs. Most dogs can handle them just fine. Your right chicken bones are small, round and very splintery. They can cause such pain and even death to a dog. But one of our dogs does throw up easily on bones. You can see how your dog handles it. Then you can make that decission for the future. Also large dogs tend to handle bones better than small dogs. Becareful if you have more than one dog, because they will fight over the viddles.
yeah there safe
Yes, rib bones are OK. Pork bones are OK too. Chicken bones splinter %26 may cause choking.
Rib bones are okay.. if they're beef ribs. Pork bones won't splinter or anything like chicken (or other poultry), but some dogs get sick from pork.
Rib bones can spinter and the dog can swallow the splinter and choke. Expecially pork ribs bones.
I have given my small dog a beef rib, but I know they don;t bite hard. A bbigger dog will.
My vet says no bones at all, only rawhide.
Any and all COOKED bones can splinter. Never give any kinds of bone that has been cooked. Raw bones can be fine IF you select the proper size for your dog - smaller bones for big dogs can be swallowed - the bones should be sized to be chewable, but not small enough to swallow. Why would anyone think dogs should eat COOKED food? Did I miss something? Did canines invent fire? RAW, RAW, RAW! The marrow is good for them and chewing helps prevent bordem. Take care!
PS: AVOID ALL RAWHIDE, PIG EARS, HOOVES, etc. Worked at a vet's office for years and saw way too many torsions, torn rectums, etc., from these un-digestible "goodies".
No, my dog choked on one years ago. It lodged in her throat sideways. Luckily my mom got it out and took her to the Vet. She was fine.
yupp it's safe
seam to be ok if they are big enoug. The best kind of bone is a raw frozen bone, you can find them @ specialty pet stores. My dogs looove them
i have found that if your dogs start chewing bones when babies, that they have no problems, even with chicken bones, but if you start giving older dogs bones that have never had the before, they havd problems. i have 6 dogs at present and have had many others in the past, none have ever had problems with bones
yeah ribs are safe. the reason about chicken is beacuse there small and dogs choke on them. Any bone that isn't so small is fine for dogs
rib bones are ok to give them. i give my dogs rib bones and they are fine to eat. the only thing that you can not give a dog is chicken bones because they will slpinter when they eat them. i give rib bones once a week as a treat. but yes they are ok to give to your dog.
Can dogs really not hear the highest note on a piano?
Answers:
Dogs can hear the highest note on a piano. They can hear pitches you can't. Did you ever wonder why a dog howls when he hears a siren? I'm sure it's because he's picking up pitches that you or I can't possibly hear. Dogs whom are put through obedience school are often trained with dog whistles which are too high of a pitch for you or I to hear with our ears. Take a peak inside of your dogs ears sometime. His ears are full of all sorts of interesting curves that our ears just don't have. Now cup your hands behind your ears. Do you pick up sound better? Those curves help the dog hear what we miss.
dogs can hear higher pitches than humans, they train them with dog whistles with very high pitches. if you can hear it your dog can.
i agree with connie
Of course they can. If you can hear it so can they, their hearing is much better than ours.
Can dogs really die from Chocolate?
What does it do to them? What kind of dog is most effected after eating chocolate? Is there a chocolate thats ok for dogs? Any certain chocolate that really isnt good for dogs? Has this been medically proven? Are they sure the dogs that dies werent just allergic to chocolate?
Answers:
some do some don't, since one of ours died from it we wont feed it any more.
the worst is dark chocolate.
but carob is an imitation that is healthy, it comes from the carob tree.
and it taste a lot like chocolate.
yea if u dont treat it fast
I heard is poisonous for Rottweilers.
Yes they can. I believe it damages their liver, but not positive on that.
Any and all breeds can die from eating it, but it depends on the size of the dog and how much they consume. I believe it's 1 ounce per pound to see toxic effects.
Also, some types of chocolate are worse than others. For example, white chocolate is the least worrisome because it contains the least amount of theobromine(sp?). That's what makes the chocolate toxic. Baker's chocolate contains the most.
I think doggie baker's use carob instead of chocolate for dogs.
Yes. Human chocolate is poisonous to dogs because it contains a substance called theobromine. This is a medical fact and nothing to do with allergies. The dogs that have died from this poisoning died in agonising pain from liver failure.
Any human chocolate is poisonous to dogs except for white chocolate, which is just really bad for them in dietary terms! Doggie chocs which you get from your pet store are perfectly safe as they do not contain the poison. The poison is contained in the cocoa solids, so cocoa powder is the most dangerous, then dark chocolate, then milk chocolate. An 8oz tin of cocoa powder can kill 2 labrador size dogs.
Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that is a strong chemical stimulant. In humans, who metabolize the alkaloid quickly, theobromine has been shown to have some beneficial effects including mood elevation, myocardial stimulation, cough surpression, and vasodilation (widening of blood vessels from relaxation of the muscular wall of the vessels).
However animals -- especially cats, dogs, horses, birds, and small pets -- are unable to effectively metabolize theobromine. If they are fed chocolate, theobromine will remain in their bloodstream for up to 20 hours and may cause epileptic seizures, internal bleeding, heart attacks, and even death. Chocolate is such a potent stimulant than it is banned in horse-racing as a performance-enhancing drug.
So I'm told but, when I was a child we had a miniature poodle and my mother used to fix him a Christmas stocking. In it she put slim jims and lots of Hershey's kisses. We didn't know about the harm done to dogs by choc. then. Well, he ate it, but not all at once. Never had a problem. Maybe it depends on how much choc. the dog eats at one time. I guess the caffeine in it is bad for their heart.
I heard that only bakers chocolate was truly fatal to dogs, but my suggestion would to ask your vet. My parents have a small dog who ate a whole bag of peppermint patties, so who knows! I would ask my vet to be sure!
my aunt's 2 dogs got into a bag of chocolate kisses on X-mas eav.. they died that morning. we love the stuff but it's not good @ all for them..
yes they can, I read a newspaper article that explains it well. A small amount is not bad for a dog (VERY SMALL AMOUNT) but the smaller the dog the less it can handle. A larger dog may be able to eat a chocolate bar and be ok, but if a smaller dog did it, it could be fatal. So smaller breeds would be more seriously effected by this. Most dogs will just get sick if they eat a bit of chocolate, my personal experience, my dog got a hold of one of those mini bars, and shes about 50 lbs, she was ok at first but then later she threw up twice and had diarrhea the next day. every dog will react differently as people's bodies all react differently to different foods. Bottom line- Dont give a dog chocolate. There is choc. flavored carob that is natural and safe though!
Chocolate is to dogs as arsenic is to people. It is poison to them. A lot will kill one immediately and a little is a slow death depending on the size of your animal. I personally think it would be cruel to give it to them.
Dogs cannot eat chocolate..
the dog wont die but it will have terrible diarea and will throw up.
All chocolates are the same.
It has been mediclly proven and I had an experience. My dog Bosco at a chocolate bunny i got my boy friend for easter and he was a mess for a week.
This happens to all dogs. its best if the dog and the chocolate stay apart
All chocolate is toxic to dogs, and yes it is a proven fact.Don't feed a dog any chocolate.
Chocolate is toxic to dogs however I had a German Shepherd that once ate a whole bag of chocolates. Foil and all. Because they were not mostly dark chocolate, she was a big dog, vet said not to worry, she will pass it. And she did. Looked like easter eggs. The vet told me then that a smaller dog eating a large amount of chocolate could be serious or ANY SIZE DOG EATING BAKER'S CHOCOLATE would be in danger. Baker's chocolate is particularly toxic to dogs.
Yes, if they eat too much. Even if your chocolate lab says otherwise, don't give it to him.

Even if your chocolate lab says otherwise, don't give it to him.
can dogs lose there bark?
Answers:
yes they can to a point. however it usually is associated with a medical problem. I had a 13 yr old choc. lab that this happened to. it was one of the first signs of him having a paralyzed larynx. if left untreated it will continue to get worse, they will have difficulty breathing, will choke on their food, cough alot (especially when excited or stressed) there are several treatments..
anti-inflammatory pills, steroids, or surgery. my recommendation to you would be to take your dog to the vet and have it checked out.
I think so =)
Yes, they can loose their bark. Isnt that called Kennel cough?
No, but a tree can.
believe it or not i have known a few dogs to lose their bark! its usually the older ones though.
the bark may be lower and warmer
My dog used to get hoarse from barking, but I've never heard of this before. Be a good idea just to phone your Vet %26 ask them about it, rule out any possibility of tumor on the vocal cords, etc. Age, genetics, all kinds of things need to be taken into account. And just in case, he does not have access to live Aloe Vera plants does he? The nickname of these plants is "dumb cane", can numb and I believe also lose the sound, make sure there's none within reach anywhere inside or out, as a lot of people like to grow it to snap off a leaf %26 apply to burns. Just a thought.
Yes they can bark themselves hoarse. If you found a dog that doesn't bark, he or she may have been "debarked" by a surgery (its cruel, they basically cut the voice box so that the air can't vibrate in them as well)
can dogs look up?
Answers:
I don't see why not. My dog looks up in the sky when a plane flies over or she looks up to watch birds flying.
Yes, in spite of anything you may have seen in Shaun of the Dead.
If they roll on their backs they could.
Yes mine watch airplanes at night.
Would have to say I've never noticed, but don't think they can without lifting their heads to do so.
do you have a bran?
if you do do you ever use it?
The can look up, down, side to side.LOL's
yes they can. My pug even watches TV
OF COURSE!! Iv'e had so many dogs, I currently have 1 dog and all of dogs look up at a person. If they couldn't see a person they wouldn't look up. Did you know that a horse cant see infront of them?? only on the sides?? they can't see infront of them only unless they put theyr'e head down cause theyr'e eyes are on the sides.
Not even my dog is that STUPID!
yes dogs can look up
yes!
Yes my dog chases animals up my acorn tree and stares and barks at them all night. It's funny sometimes.
yup.my dog runs to the ground floor and looks up to me in the second floor balcony
Can dogs look up with their eyes?
my friend claims that dogs move their head upwards to see what's going on and they can't actually look up with their eyes - is this true?
Answers:
Hi, your friend is wrong, they can %26 do look up with their eyes.
Have a look at this photo:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/wa.
She's not quite looking totally upwards but you can see that her eye has moved because it showing part of the white underneath.
Compare it to this photo:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/wa.
Same dog but no eye whites showing at all because she is looking straight at the camera.
Hope this helps.
Mine looks up at me all the time without moving his head.
Yes. So can you.
Have your friend state her source.
Um, not that I know of. My dog can look up with his eyes. Your friend sounds like a dummy, lol.
No. They only move their heads when the thing they want to see is too far up (as we do)
I have seen dogs being told off by their owners and they cower their heads but also look up I suppose for some gesture of forgiveness maybe, I am not in the know on this subject but from what ive seen I would disagree.
My dogs and cats and horses all look up with their eyes
My dog can, but he's a border collie.. he can do anything!
I DONT HAVE PETS
not sure as i dont have a dog unfortunately. :(
That's a really good question, and youhave me wondering if your friend may be right. My little dog does move her head up to look up at things. Amazing thumbs up to your friend and you for posting that question
Of course they can! Your friend is either pulling your leg or is not too bright!
Have they ever been around any animals ever?
look up what.the football results.next weeks telly.
Yes they can look up, without usiong their head!>xx
of course it is they have eyes like ours just dont see in colour ope this helps
That was a good question, as cats supposedly do not move their eyes - only move their heads.
I believe that they can move their eyeballs to see around - perhaps not with as drastic movement/motion that humans do. Think of when your dog has his head laying on his paws and looks up with those "puppy eyes".
I think your friend needs a book on dogs.
yes they can.but what a dog cant do is lick his lower lip..
yes they can look up with their eyes.
mine is looking up at me right now, she was asleep on the floor, I shouted her name but she's too lazy to lift up her head, lol.
Dogs have a much larger range of vision than we do. Image a gigantic sphere with a blacked out pie shape, the tip being at the back of the head, extending back behind the dog. The dog sees everything in that gigantic sphere, with the exception of that blacked out pie shape.
So literally, your dog can see behind its own head without turning its head.
I thin k mine does when she wants something! I sure she does for a biscuit!
your friend has been watching sean of the dead, its not true, they can look up.

Can dogs have seizure's?
I have a 3 year old cocker. the other night he jumped off the bed in the middle of the night , hit his head on the dresser proceeded to run into the wall on walk into my coffee table. We don't know what
happpened or what to do.
Answers:
My dog used to have fits. It's pretty scary when it happens. The vet wasn't able to give me any advice only to leave the dog indoors because if it is hot and he had a fit he could dehydrate in the sun.
of course they can. Get the pup to the vet!
Dogs, cat %26 just abut any animal can.
yes dogs can have seizures. What I would say to do is call a vet and keep an eye on the dog.
Yes they can, especially after a head injury, any time a dog hits its head like that it can cause them to go into a sezuire like state, You do not have to worry about it happing again, like him seizing for no reason, as it was not a voluntary seizure but brought on by a head injury.
don't worry my dog done the same once and he was only having a dream and hadn't woken properly its scary i know but don't worry unless it keeps happening then see your local vet for advice.
Yes dogs can have seizures also. but in my experience the dog layed down just like us and started shaking n stuff. Just watch him and if he acts funny again then I would take him to a vet and get checked out.He probably hit the wall and coffee table cuz he hit his head on the dresser..L
my dog did he is dead (Really)
yes
yeah it happened my dog
she died :(
Typically, after a seizure the 'body' goes very limp, just like a noodle. During a seizure the brain is 'misfiring', so to speak, and after the seizure the body goes limp bcz the brain has to have complete rest. Does that sound like something she did after she ran around? Did her body go limp? I've seen quite a few seizures, but I don't have a medical license.
My strong suggestion to you would be to at the very least..call your veterinarian and tell them what happened. There is no way of knowing what's going on this way, and I know you must love your little dog alot. Run it past the vet. Good luck!
Yes, they can. They can also develop lesions in the brain that causes erratic behavior. Take him to the vet.
yes. my poodle has siezures. they can be triggered by small or large changes in daily routines. sometimes even for no reason. good luck!
yes they most certainly do. they can even have strokes and i think maybe your dog might have experienced one it might be good to have him vet checked to see if medication may be needed at this time.
My mother and father owned a dog that they just put to sleep recently. The dog would be doing nothing wether it be sleeping or just laying there and would go into a seizure. After about the third time they brought him to the vet and they ran some test and they found that the dogs brain was malfunctuning just like it does in humans. Well the vet gave my parents some medication for the dog just to find out later that they did'nt help very much. Unfortunatly it cost my parents thousands of dollars just to decide they could'nt put him through it any more physically, mentally or them selves finacally so they finally put him to sleep. The dog used to bounce himself of the walls, stove, fridge, table, windows it's just like when a person has one they loose control over there body.
Yes, I believe that a dog can have a seizure. But, I don't know if that's what your dog had. I would take him to a vet.
yes they can have fits an i dont want to scare you but get it to the vet as soon as possible.
i would back up the answers of anyone who said to take the dog to a vet. do it as soon as possible.
yes, dogs can have seizures, and since their communication skills aren't the best ! it could be very hard to know for sure if there are other problems, pains, etc. get a professional opinion!
Yes they can - Please get our dog checked out by a vet!

Can dogs Have colds?
My 8 week old pup just came down with a runny nose, Weezing and she is sneezing alot. It's like I'm wiping a little kids nose what should I do?
Answers:
All animals have immune systems. There are various factors within its environment that can interfere with their immune system which can result in them becoming sick either with a cold or some other ailment. If your animal is sick, then it is best to either go to a pet store and ask about ways you can remedy their illness or simply schedule an appointment with your vet. I hope that helps.
maybe i just know when your dog is sick they try hide it
OF COURSE..THEY ARE JUST LIKE HUMANS. ALL ANIMALS GET SICK
yeah my dog had a cold before.
If you had kids and they came down with a cold would you ask on here?
Get him to a vet.
Yes they can!! as for u take your dog 2 the vet 2 get some medicine for that cold
Yes and you should take her to the vet. It could be something more serious like Parvo.
When my puppy got sick I just gave it a little childrens cold medicine like triaminic. My daughter was sick at the same time and that cleared up both of their colds.
yes they can
take it to the vet.give some medicines.
yes but there nose is always wet so it's hard to tell
Take your pup to the vet.it might be something serious, so you should definitely get it checked.
They can get colds - upper respiratory infections - same as us. You may want to call your vet office and explain her symptoms - they can probably prescribe you something w/o having to take her in! Good Luck
They sure can, Keep it warm and lots of fluids just like us, If it doesn't clear up in a few days bring him aor call the vet.
NO!
That's NOT a "cold" but it could have DISTEMPER %26 DIE!!
VET IMMEDIATELY!
They get what we get! Its very possible!
they can get upper respiratory infections. because it is a pup, it's immune system is weak. you need to take it to your vet right away. they can get pneumonia. there are also many other bad diseases out there that your pup can get; go to your vet!!

Can dogs have beef short rib bones, or will they splinter like pork?
Answers:
No they can't have rib bones - raw knuckle bones only are safe.
No!! My dog choked on one years ago. Luckily my mom got it out. It was lodged in her throat sideways. Since then we have never give another bone to any of our dogs.
raw bones only
I used to give them to my dog all the time. They don't splinter like chicken does, but she bit off large chunks and choked on one. I don't give them anymore. I guess It depends on the dog. If you have something smal that would only have the strength to gnaw on it, I don't see why not. If it's a larger dog (I have an Akita) I wouldn't, or just keep a close eye on them.
Never give your dog any type of cooked bones.
Do not give your dog any kind of real bones. And yes there is a chance a rib bone can splinter because they are a shaft type bone and can splinter. If you want to give your dog a bone to naw on get him a fiber bone from the pet store. It is better for their digestive system and better for their teeth.
Can dogs have a small amount of decaffinated coffee in there cookies?
I know caffeen is bad for dogs, but my dog loves the smell of coffee. She goes nuts when I come home with a cup of Dunkin!! I was wondering if it would be a problem if I baked her some plain dog cookies using a cup or so of decaffinated coffee in place of water? I guess the overall amount would be on cup of decaffinated coffee split up amongst 40 - 50 cookies. Thanks!
Answers:
I can't see how it would harm, other than increasing her likely hood of stealing your coffee..
dogs love cookies made with carob, and it is cheap, and so good for them too..You will find it in the health section of the grocer's..

*Excellent source of: Calcium (358mg), Potassium (852mg), and Riboflavin (0.47mg)
U should ask a vet or someone. U should keep the dog healthy strong etc. and dont spoil the dog
Only if they've finished all there cake.
It depends on the process used to decaffinate the coffee. Some proceses use water; other processes use chemicals (which can give humans sensitive to it headaches, stomach aches, and other discomforts.)
Be careful what you use in the cookies. The type of flour is important; don't use honey (it can contain bacteria dogs can't digest), etc. Find dog-safe recipes on-line before cooking up anything for your pooch.
Dogs are not supposed to eat people food it is not good for them.
