Can cat fleas live on humans??

We no longer have our cat, she passed away 2 weeks ago ;-; , But when she was here she had tons of fleas. We tryed raid flea spray and shampoos for her. Now that shes gone its been 2 weeks and we still have lots of fleas in the house. Our ankles and legs are all bitten, and my daughter had a flea in her hair. Does anyone know how long flea season in in southern cal and how to get rid of these nasty fleas. thanks
Answers:
no
Yes they can, and their eggs hatch about every two weeks, so you have to keep after them.
only one kind of flea - mammal flea

you need a flea spray or powder with a growth inhibitor what you have now doesn't prevent eggs hatching if you miss just a few ( and you will ) they will be back

since your fleas now live in your house 'flea season' is year round
Yes, the eggs are probably in the carpet. Vacuum a lot and bomb.
ok to answer you Q no they can not they do not like humans and they HATE garlic, you could get an exterminator
No you silly cat fleas can not live on people
no
1) YES

2) Why ask a CAT question in the DOG section?
yes fleas can get on your ody and in your hair
u can serch it on YAHOO! Serch:"HOW TO GET RID OF FLEAS THAT ARE NOT ON AN ANIMAL".
they can live along time try the stuff you use to get rid of lice in everyones hair wash all your laundry in hot water gat your carpets cleaned and try to use flee or lice spray on your couches and bed matteresses. if you guys go clean everything very well it may help the problem
..im sorry to hear about your loss

yes they can
go to the local animal feed store (not a pet store) and ask what they have ..make sure you mention to them that you have a young daughter

----best of luck
I do not believe fleas can live on humans, but I do know the can give you nice itchy bites. If you no longer have pets, you could go ahead and get several flea smoke "bombs" (read the label to see how many you need depending on the size of the area to bomb) or call an exterminator. We were able to bomb the house to get rid of them. If you have a yard you can also treat the yard for fleas to help from tracking them into your home too.
Should you get another pet in the future, be sure to get them the Advantix or other flea treatment from your vet. Don't bother w/ the Hertz brand found in stores, it can be toxic to your pet and doesn't seem to help w/ the fleas.
The fleas will persist indefinitely regardless of weather if it is indoors. They will nest and breed in your carpet, clothes, and food.

You need to empty the house of all materials you don't want gassed. Seal all food containers. Open all cabinets, closets, and room doors. Vaccuum the house thouroughly to reduce the volume of fleas, eggs, and nests. Empty the vac outside as not to reinfest the house. Then flea bomb the house. Last I new a 3 pack of canisters runs about $40, and each can should do a normal sized room. You need to cover every room of the house. Let it bomb for what the instructions say for time (about 2 hours) and the let the house air for a couple more (follow instructions for your brand). When allowed access to the house again, clean ALL surfaces and vaccuum again.

Repeat if necessary.

Estimated time to complete: a whole weekend.
Cat Flea Eggs And Larvae Can Lie Dormant In Your Carpet For Almost A Year Depending On The Conditions In Yor Home. The Prefer Humid Condition That Encourage The Eggs To Hatch Into Larvae. The Spin Cacoons Around Themselves And Spend An Indefinite Period Of Time In These Cacoon Till The Coditons Are Proper The They 'Hatch' As Adult Fleas Which Then Jump On Your Pets To Feed. Only Bout 80% Of A Fleas Life Cycle Is Actually Spent On Your Pet. If No Pet Host Is Present The Colony Will Eventually Die Of. In Like I Said Bout A Year At Most.
yes that is why it is inportant to wash your dog and put flea and tick collor on them and yes they can live on you and they have egggs so wash your body if you see one on you
