Can dogs get sick from eating raw ground beef?

Answers:
Eating a lot of strange food especially high fat food can lead to various digestive upsets from diarrhea to the dreaded %26 potentially fatal pancreatitis. Inpossible to tell what you are dealing with over the internet! Afraid that if he seems seriously ill you need to talk/go to the vet.
Probably fine, enjoying the high from all that ground beef!! Make sure has access to H20, if it hasn't changed in a couple days, take to the vet.
Why are you on the computer? Call the emergency vet? Ask!
it'll be alright you can do the same wont hurt you do this all the time you could get rickets, one time wont hurt , dogs stomach can handle a lot of things ours wont
please dont waste ur money for a vet the dog will be fine, hamburger is more of a natural food for dogs than the corn they put in most dog food anyhow, i give it 2 my dogs evert chance i get, dont worry
i don't think so probally just belly aching but i'll take her to the vet if she doesn't improve just to make sure
No it really won't hurt him/her, but eating raw meat on a regular basis WILL cause worm infestation in the intestinal tract. Relax, it'll go through just fine.
tapeworm, roundworm, parasites
probaly won't hurt it. our dogs eat raw meat.good source of protein for the muscles.
She's just full from eating too much! Dogs can even eat rotten meat with no ill effects, although what each dog can digest will vary. Dogs will be sick if they have eaten something that could be harmful to them- their digestive systems are very good at rejecting bad food.
There's certainly nothing to worry about anyway with raw fresh beef. Lucky dog! I give mine raw meat when I want to treat her, she loves it and it never makes her ill. She's also had raw meat that's started to go off plenty of times with no ill effects- she seems to love the 'ripe' taste!
O, to the person who said worms and parasites- it is highly unlikely that meat intended for human consumption carries worms (I often enjoy rare steak or mince, and I've never had worms!) and in any case dogs pick up worms from other dogs' saliva, bums etc all the time- that's why we worm them! As for parasites- I'd be seriously worried if meat sold for humans had parasites living in it, and any parasites that get eaten get killed by acid in the stomach. Plenty of people feed their dogs raw meat all the time, it's natural and healthy.
My dog did a smelly poo
Meat alone will cause diahrrea. Bone is what gives raw fed dogs firm stools. If he's used to eating kibble, straight meat is probably pretty rich in compairson - especially if he's always had the same kibble and not much else. The change in diet could be quite a shock to his system.
I have had the same thing happen before, basically they get a severe tummy ache, the digestive system may be a bit irritated, and may suffer from loose bowels..HOWEVER if by Monday, the symptoms have not changed, then I would suggest a vet consultation to be sure it did not trigger any other dormant ailments.

RAW diets are proven to be an excellent choice when feeding your dog, and even though it was a mistake, it should be okay. If it had been a smaller amount, it probably would not have effected your dog as much as it did. They have really sensitive digestive systems, and something new as a pound of raw hamburger, can definitely irritate the body.

Good luck, I am sure your dog will be up and bouncing soon.
She is probably full. If your dog was outside and found a dead squirrel that had been out in the sun for 4 days she would eat it with no ill effects. Don't feed her for a day or two. She needs to digest her big meal!
yes
its possible. my friends dog ate a raw full size chicken and hes fine, had the craps bad, but he's fine.
Dogs are directly from Wolves - same DNA Was a article in National Geographic. This is actually what they did eat in the past- Raw Meat off of animal bones. They have the digestive juices, emzymes sp? in their systems to handle this Very well. Its other things that are healthy for us like grains and vegetables that don t do a thing for them and that their systems don t handle as well. Also keep in mind that they only have Canine Teeth - not grinding teeth. It was to handle tearing meat off bones that it was good for but not necessarily for chunks of things that they try and then gulp down and then can possibly choke on.

If it ate that much of it - I m sure its just because it was such a large amount and it has the biggest stomach ache ever.
