On its fanny, it looks like ticking..It could just be the picture..but, if it is freckled, ( or roan) your dog would be considered a red ticked..

If the puppy is registered AKC, send a few side, front and rear pictures to them and let them decide.
They have their own version of colors, and what ever you choose will be incorrect anyway.

My husband, who is a rabbit hunter and has several beagles, would call that dog's color, lemon and white. It is a beautiful beagle, you don't see many that color. If it were a little more darker towards a brownish color, he would call it liver and white.

Interesting.so would my dog also be considered pied if she were a beagle, seeing as the black and tan blend in together instead of having clear lines?

Her hairs do seem to be banded in color.however as a basset she is simply referred to as tricolor.
