I used to have a sheltie and an aussie and they got along great. Recently my sheltie passed away and i'm looking for a new playmate for my aussie. Any dogs that go specifically well with aussies? (as in energy level (not to much but enough to keep up) and temperment)

I agree with Jessica, labs are great dogs. Great for families, great with other animals..we recently adopted a lab/boxer mix and, even though there are some undesirable puppy habits popping out now that he's feeling better (he had pneumonia when we brought him home), he's been a really good dog. My brother has a lab/border collie mix, and she's awesome.
German Shepherds are nice, companionable dogs, as well. Another Aussie wouldn't be out of the question. A Border Collie wouldn't have any trouble keeping up with your Aussie, either..but this might be too much energy for YOU to keep up with, lol.
Actually, as another herding animal, Pembroke Welsh Corgi's are good dogs. A sufficient amount of energy and they love the companionship of other dogs.
A lab would be a great pal. My neighbor has a Aussie named I think Boomer and him and my lab Zoey get along great.
Labs love kids, and adults. And they have an excellent temperment.
You could get another Aussie, or a sheltie. I have two shelties named Lady and luke. They are great dogs and are awsome in agilty and fresibe. Lady has won the championship four times before she retired.
Also, a german shpeherd.

I think a mudi is a great dog for you. It's a Hungarian Shepperd dog. They are very clever and lovely dogs like aussies. Good for many dog sports (obedience, agility and so on) and very good worker dogs (people use them as sheperd dog, rescue dog, guard dog and so on). They are very healthy. They are in many colours (blue merle, brown, black, grey, white, brown merle,).Unfortunately, it's a very infrequent breed.
